Lawrence S. O'Rourke was a member of the Special Engineer Detachment of the Manhattan Engineer District.  After completion of the ASTP program at the Ohio State University, he was transferred to the S.A.M. Laboratories at Columbia University in New York City in January 1944.  He was later transferred to Oak Ridge, TN in May 1945.
