"SOLD OUT" 2002 509th Composite Group Commemorative Steins
- These beautiful commemorative steins were given to attendees
of the 57th reunion of the 509th Composite Group at Oak Ridge, TN in
October of 2002. There were 35 steins that were left over after the
reunion and they are being made available to the general public
here. These high-quality steins are 4-3/4" high and 3-1/2" in
diameter. They weigh 1# - 5oz. This 2002 stein has the 509th's logo
on one side with the words "509th Composite Group - 57th Reunion"
above the logo and "1945 - 2002" below the logo. The logo shows the
famous black arrow with the lightning bolt through it with the words
"First Atomic Bombardment". The reverse side of the stein bears the
seal of Oak Ridge, TN with the words "Home of the Atomic Bomb".
These steins are brand new and are an important collectors item for
those interested in the history of World War II. The 509th Composite
Group was charged with the responsibility of delivering the two
atomic bombs to Japan which brought about a swift conclusion to
World War II. As we continue to lose these veterans, there will come
a time when there will be no more reunions. Now is the time to get
one of these important artifacts while the opportunity is still
available. Once these 35 steins are gone there will be no more...so
act fast. These steins are being made available through a
cooperative agreement between the 509th Reunion Group and the
Manhattan Project Heritage Preservation Assoc. |
