Oak Ridge SED Yearbook - 1945

X-10 Reactor (Clinton Labs)

This pictorial yearbook represents a photographic record of the Special Engineer Detachment at Oak Ridge from 1943 to 1945.   The detachment at Oak Ridge reached its peak in September 1945 at which time the roster included 1,257 enlisted men.  The men in the detachment came from every state in the union and represented 300 institutions of higher learning.  Approximately 2/3 of the men held college degrees.  The average Army General Classification Test score for the detachment was 133, most probably the highest average for any unit in the Army.
