Some critics complain that America resorted to using the atomic bomb as
part of a vengeance directed toward Japan. If you happen to have
the opportunity to speak with a World War II veteran who fought the
Japanese in the Pacific Theatre...or, to family members who lost loved
ones at Pearl Harbor, or Iwo Jima, or Corregidor, or Okinawa, or Saipan,
or Bataan...they will tell you the critics are right. It was
vengeance...and, more importantly, Japan got everything it deserved.
