J. Robert Oppenheimer on TrialPhoto: P-184 (Kenneth D. Nichols)
This is a photo of Kenneth D. Nichols, the same man who commanded the Manhattan Engineer District and was General Groves right-hand man. When this picture was taken, he was General Manager of the Atomic Energy Commission and was deeply involved in preparing the case against Oppenheimer. When Nichols was at Oak Ridge and Los Alamos during the war, he often worked closely with Oppenheimer.
