| The story behind the above picture is that Hanford workers donated a day's pay (thus the plane's name "Day's Pay") to buy a B-17 bomber for the Army Air Force. The plane was dedicated at the Hanford site before going to England and the 8th Air Force. In 2001, a similar "day's pay" effort was made to raise money for a fire truck for New York City after the Sept. 11 events. This caption was provided by Mark Jensen, a visitor to this web site! |
