Commercial Use of Photos & Diagrams
| We have over 5,000 photos on our web site, many provided to us
by veterans or the family members of veterans. In the vast
majority of cases, we can provide permission to use these photos for
commercial purposes as long as proper credit is given. We get many requests for very high-resolution images. In most cases this is impossible since we are dealing with 60-year old photos and usually the original negatives are not available. We have thousands of hours and dollars invested in the development of this web site. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization, we rely on donations to further our ability to preserve the history of the Manhattan Project. Effective January 1, 2004, we will begin requiring donations from those interested in using any of our material for commercial purposes according to the following schedule: 1 to 4 Photos - a $25.00 donation is required plus $20.00 per photo used. 5 to 10 Photos - a $40.00 donation plus $15.00 per photo used. Over 10 Photos - a $100 donation plus $10.00 per photo used. Other requests for the use of copyrighted material will be handled on a case by case basis.
