Lt. William A. Dodd, Jr. Collection

Lt. William Dodd was recruited for the Manhattan Project while recuperating from injuries received in the 1943 invasion of Bougainville Island in the South Pacific.  He served as a hi-level courier and was responsible for transporting sensitive materials and documents between Manhattan Project locations.  In 1945 he was appointed Executive Officer of the Special Engineer Detachment at Oak Ridge.  The photos and documents below were provided to us by his wife, Ms. Addie Dodd, herself a Manhattan Project veteran at Oak Ridge.
