Fran to Bill. Apr. 9, 1945, Sat. New York City Fran Carroll (SAM Columbia) to Bill Allman (SED Oakridge) To: Sergeant William T. Allman 33098099 Special Engineering Detachment Barracks Area Oak Ridge, Tennessee3280 Broadway, N.Y. to Sergeant William T. Allman, Oakridge, Tenn. Bill darling, How you bother me- But only in this way will I mention at the moment. NEVER call me up again- from Tennessee- Alaska, California, that’s another story, perhaps. I insist. I demand. I won’t answer anymore. a. I am not awake, regardless of the hour, to your various references, innuendos, half-remarks. b. I spend too much subsequent time stamping about- mentally- thinking harsh sentences & being doubly irritable that I am unable to deliver them. c. I have a vast aversion to chatting by way of the telephone. Bobbie and I came in to work at eight tonight after a hard afternoon of shopping and were about to give up in despair (11:30). We plan to sleep long and thoroughly thru the morning. We go to a shower in the afternoon for Helen. Helen and Dan will be married next Sat. night here at Riverside church whereupon I expect our department will close down for a good portion of the morning. Fran
