Sgt. Abe Spitzer Collection

Sgt. Abe Spitzer was the radio operator regularly assigned to The Great Artiste and on the B-29 'Bockscar' on its historic mission to drop a second atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.  The image collections below contain the personal diary of Abe Spitzer while on Tinian Island, a copy of the official orders authorizing the Hiroshima mission, and other photos and documents.  This wonderful collection of 509th Composite Group memorabilia was provided to us by Joan Hinterbichler, the daughter of Abe Spitzer.
